Women’s swimming finishes with broken records

The regular season for the womens swim team was filled with wins and broken records.

“This past season has been the most successful season since i have been a coach here, and the most successful the school has had,” said Coach Sergio Macias about the season.

A piece of the success came from standout swimmmer freshman Natalie Peng.

Since she has been with the team, she owns 13 of 18 school records and was considered as one of the top swimmers in the team by Macias.

“She is a talented athlete. She is one of the quiet teammates of the team, but her performance in the water speaks for her actions,” Macias said about Peng.

Peng owns three individual records and five coming from relay events.

Along with being undefeated in conference and being a state finalist in the butterfly event.

“It was a fun season, the hard work really paid off,” Peng said about the season.

Peng not only had a successful season in the swim team, but also helped the water polo team win a conference championship.

Peng was named on the All-American team for water polo, and Macias was named the Conference Coach of the Year.

“The coaching staff put high expectations on all swimming teams, and we all maintained focus all year,” Macias said.

“I’m looking forward to next season, we are already talking about it,” Peng said.
