Falcons baseball can’t close out L.A Valley College

The Cerritos College baseball team lost it’s second game in a row against L.A. Valley College 5-6 on Feb. 10.

The Falcons started the game by scoring three runs in the first inning, but L.A. Valley countered with two runs in the bottom of the first.

Cerritos College freshman pitcher Geoff Bill recorded two quick outs in the first inning but was unable to retire the last batter which L.A. Valley capitalized on to score the runs.

Again, in the fourth inning Geoff Bill retired the first two batters of the inning but failed to get the third out and was pulled out of the game for Falcon freshman pitcher Jared Gibson.

The Falcons closed the deficit to six to 5 in the fifth inning when freshman Daniel Renteria had a two run single that scored Chris Hefner and Joshua Ancona.

L.A. Valley held on to the lead by sending in reliever Travis Cassidy. Cassidy retired 10 of the 12 batters he faced to close out the game and earn the save.
