Falcon baseball wins two in a row

Winning two straight games in a row for the first time this year, the Cerritos College baseball team defeated Pasadena City College 8-6 on March 29.

This is the Falcons’ second win in a row against Pasadena in a matter of three days.

The Falcons defeated Pasadena 13-6 on March 26.

Freshman pitcher Christian Price started the game for the Falcons and also earned the win by going a solid five innings.

The losing pitcher was freshman pitcher Marco Ordaz who was unable to finish the third inning as he was rough up for six runs on six hits in just 2 2/3 innings of work.

The Lancers struck in the first inning but the Falcons answered right back with two runs in the bottom half of the inning with hits from Bubby Rossman, Chasen Holland and Chris Hefner.

The Falcons then scored four runs over the next two innings to chase off Pasadena’s starting pitcher Marco Ordaz.

Cerritos’ bullpen played a huge factor in the win against Pasadena, throwing four innings of work and allowing only one run.

Sophomore pitcher Cesar Chavez spoke about how it feels to have the teams first winning streak of the season.

“It’s definitely a confident boost for us. We just need to keep on battling and have faith in ourselves.”

Cerritos has a record of 4-2 in their past six games and has now improved their conference record to 4-7 after starting the year 0-5.

Freshman pitcher Jared Gibson spoke about how Coach Gaylord has affected the team’s turnaround.

“We’ve been hitting the ball better and the whole lineup has been contributing which has taken a lot of stress off of everyone who felt like they have had to do everything.”

Cerritos’ next game will be their last against Pasadena City College on March 31 as the Falcons try to sweep the series against the Lancers.
