Softball finishes its last home game with a win

The Falcons softball team claimed the conference title after defeating Long Beach City College, 3-1, at Nancy Kelly field on April 19, finishing their regular season home game schedule with a six game winning streak

Coach Kodee Murray shared her thoughts on winning the final home game of the year.

“Long Beach was a very tough opponent and it clinched our conference championship so it was a gigantic win for us.”

Lily Cornejo was the starting pitcher for the lady Falcons and received the win after throwing seven innings.

Cornejo threw her 25th complete game of the season and won her 26th game.

Long Beach City jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the top of the 1st inning with a lead off triple from Danielle Hannan and was later brought in to score by fellow teammate Elizabeth Melendrez.

Cerritos would answer back in the bottom of the first with hits from Lauren Castrellon and Jackie Flores.
