With a never ending will to make goals, the Cerritos Women’s Soccer team took El Camino Compton-Center out, by taking 49 shots on goal as opposed to Compton’s 2 shots on goal on Tuesday, Oct. 20.

The first goal of the match happened in the second minute, the undefeated Falcons ran with the early lead to score 5 more goals in the first half.

Head Coach, “Fortunately a lot of the opportunities we had, we scored on.”

With a lead of 6 goals to none, after the first half the coach said it was easy for him to put in the second team to take the second half for the starters

He said, “Sometimes they don’t play a lot and today was an opportunity for them to play and they took advantage of that,”

Not only did the Falcons shatter Compton, they also shattered records, with Frosh forward number 11, Carolina Jaramillo breaking the record for number of assists in one game.

The most recent record of 4 assists in one game was held by Tiffany Shultz and set in 2010, tying with two other records set in 2005 and 2009.

Jaramillo set a fresh record by making 6 assists during the Compton match. By the end of the match she had also scored 3 goals.

Amber Whitmore, forward, said, “Even though they aren’t starters, everyone on the bench plays just as well.”

With so many players from the last seasons team moving on, she feels that the team is coming together.

She said, “It took time for us but we are finally picking up the pieces and we’re working great as a team.”

Whitmore scored 3 goals during the face off with Compton.

Natalie deLeon, center forward, felt that the players are working well together.

She said,”We had to play smart, they were playing the offside trap a lot,being smart played a big factor in this game,

“I think we’ve honestly grown a lot closer we’ve got good team chemistry and it shows on the field”.
