ESPN ran out of news content and now both the NBA players and ESPN are helping to fill the sports void we all crave to have but in a different way

NBA players are now taking part in an NBA 2K20 tournament where 16 NBA players participate.

A few notable names include Kevin Durant from the Brooklyn Nets, Tre Young from the Atlanta Hawks and the winner of the tournament Devin Booker from the Pheonix Suns.

The tournament began on April 3 and as it came to the end, players and fans craved something new to get invested in.

ESPN created a new tournament for basketball and it involves a well-known game called “Horse” where two players go head-to-head on taking crafty and creative shots.

If your opponent cannot make the same shot, they get a letter. The first one to spell out “horse” will lose the game and will be eliminated from the tournament.

This tournament has a great mix of past, present and future players.

Players of both the NBA and WNBA are also participating.

WNBA’s newest Hall of Famer Tamika Catching who played for Indiana Fever is one of the women playing Horse.

She will play alongside former NBA champion Chauncey Billups who played for the Detroit Pistons and two-time dunk contest winner from the Chicago Bulls Zach Lavine and many more.

The tournament started on April 12, on Easter afternoon.

One shot that was used in every game played that day was to shoot the ball from behind the backboard.

The best matchup was between current NBA player from the Oklahoma City Thunder No.3 point guard Chris Paul and current WNBA player from the Chicago Sky No.14 Alexandria Quigley.

Quigley made the most creative shot of the day by sitting down on the left side of the court were the box would be at, on the outside of the paint and she banked (the ball hit the backboard) it in.

Another sports entertainment company that has seen a growth in television ratings is the WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment).

Mayor Jerry L. Demings of Orange County Florida deemed the WWE an essential business in the state of Florida.

This allows WWE to continue to produce live shows three times a week and hold pay-per-view events on one Saturday and Sunday every month inside of their performance center in Orlando without any fans.

Shaan Singh watches World Wrestling Entertainment Monday Night Raw as Florida declares sports entertainment an essential business.

Unfortunately, like many other businesses on April 15, WWE released 30 employees such as referee Mike Chhioda, backstage producer Deonna Purrazzo and WWE Hall of Famer and the 1996 Olympic gold medalist Kurt Angle.

Many wrestling fans including myself are beyond furious that many of our favorite on-screen and backstage talents have been terminated in the wake of this current pandemic.

We as a nation have been through a ton of hard times but one thing that makes this country united is that we all are resilient and will not allow or accept defeat as we go through yet another hard time we still and always will stand UNITED.
