One night special proves the movie adaptation is everything fans have been waiting for. The special gave an exclusive behind the scenes look at the upcoming film.

Paul Tazewell’s designs are absolutely insane in the best way possible. They showed Glinda’s pink bubble dress with over 20,000 hand sewn beads.

Each costume tells its own story, from Elphaba’s layered black outfits that gradually become more powerful as she finds her voice, to the Emerald City citizens metallic green ensembles that look like they jumped straight out of a fever dream.

The attention to detail is mind blowing. They mentioned some dresses took over 200 hours to create.

The interviews with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Hearing Erivo talk about what Elphaba means to her as a Black woman, and how the character’s fight against injustice feels especially relevant right now.

She revealed she sang “Defying Gravity” live while suspended 40 feet in the air.

Grande’s interview was filled with surprised too. She went deep into Glinda’s character, explaining how she’s more than just the popular girl, she is someone struggling with privilege and learning what real friendship means.

You could tell both actresses understood the assignment and then some.

The musical performances they teased sounded incredible. The orchestra sounds fuller, richer with a full orchestra bringing Stephen Schwartz’s score to life.

There were hints about “Wicked: For Good,” the second part coming on Nov 21, 2025 showing quick glimpses of what’s to come.

Without spoiling anything, it looks like they’re expanding the story in ways that will make both newcomers and die-hard fans happy.

This special confirmed what I’ve been hoping for this isn’t just another Broadway-to-film adaptation. It’s a complete reimagining that respects the source material while creating something entirely new. November 21 can’t come fast enough.
