Soccer fans gathered at Classic Football Shirts on N. Fairfax Avenue in Los Angeles to watch Lionel Messi and Inter Miami win the MLS Cup on Dec. 6, 2025.
Sabor Vivo catered the event with free food for people inside and outside the store.
Owner Bianca Gonzalez said, “So we’re a small business. We do a lot of Hispanic treats. Today we served our frescas, esquites and churrosandes.”
As Latino music played, employee Artemio Reyes Orta moved to the clothing racks so people could start dancing.
Marí es Cartin, with a drink in her hand, started to get down on the floor with people in the center of the store.
Cartin said, “When DJ Dro, whenever he’s on the decks, I’m gonna dance, the baddies are gonna dance. It’s just like a given. I don’t know, I feel like it’s the genres. I feel like our culture is being celebrated, and I feel comfortable, and I’m gonna dance.”
“I’m Mexican and Filipino, but like, you know what I mean, like, Arriba Mexico, yeah. Arriba Mexico cabranese! Yeah, that’s my best friend,” Cartin added.
Steven Mema created Menace and is in a partnership with Major League Soccer and was the sponsor of the event.
Mema said, “I worked with the LA Galaxy, and that collection just did so well. It was amazing, and I was invited and offered to do the same thing for the whole league, so we’ll see what we do next.”
Orta said, “I think that it was actually like an idea of the brand Menace. So I found out that they first did a collaboration with Adidas, and since they’re soccer fans, they were able to connect with MLS, so they just had a little collaboration.”
“Since we have a partnership with Adidas, they connected us. So I like having the idea of a fashion brand that’s very into soccer, and then us, that it’s like a sports store that focuses on history and fashion. It just made sense to have this event together,” Orta added.
When the MLS Cup final was over, many people hung out, enjoyed drinks and ate food. Some were in the back of the store sitting on a couch and a bean bag soccer ball playing EA FC 26 on the PlayStation 5.
Many people enjoyed the game but also liked the hangout that Classic Football Shirts created.
Myrna A. came with her friends and ate churros outside the store.
“I’m not a soccer fan, but it’s been fire. It’s been a good vibe. DJ’s fire, clothes are fire.”
As the World Cup comes to North America next year, Los Angeles will host eight games.
“So I’m very excited about what’s coming up. Of course, we do have many plans. There’s many ideas that we can come up with. And yeah, I think just most of the soccer fans here in the United States and around the world are excited about it. We are excited as well to welcome them,” Orta said.
