With Super Bowl 60 kicking off in San Francisco, California at Levi’s Stadium, Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be present at the event.
This is not the first time that ICE will be around the Super Bowl as they have previously operated in other Super Bowls, cracking down on counterfeit Super Bowl items such as jerseys, hats and rings with U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
There has been so many ICE activities all over the U.S. where they have been taking away illegal immigrants from their homes and deporting them out of the country.
ICE activities have been heavy in most Hispanic communities and that is sparking even more controversy surrounding the upcoming event.
Protests have popped up all over the country.
Since President Donald Trump took office, his immigration policies have also affected children as young as 2. A 2-year-old was detained in Minneapolis, Minnesota on Jan. 22.
Reggaeton Artist Bad Bunny who is from Puerto Rico will be performing for the Super Bowl halftime show as he is one of the biggest Latino artists in Latin America and has seen global success.
The announcement that Bad Bunny would perform was announced back on Sept. 28.
This is a huge moment for the Latino community as it has been a hard time in the past year for Latinos around the country and it is something for them to look forward to on Sunday.
The last time a Latino artist performed at the Super Bowl was Shakira in 2020 who is from Colombia along with Jennifer Lopez who is Puerto Rican.
The show also featured guests J Balvin and Bad Bunny.
At the 2026 Grammys that took place on Feb. 1, Bad Bunny won the award for album of the year as his album “Debí Tirar Más Fotos” was the biggest hit of 2025.
At the Grammys Bad Bunny said, “Before I say thanks to God, I’m going to say, ICE out.”
He later added, “We’re not savage, we’re not animals, we’re not aliens. We are humans and we are Americans.”
This message shows that everyone in the United States are united as one no matter how different each person is in this country.
Trump would criticize Bad Bunny by saying that he was a “terrible choice” to pick to perform at the big game’s halftime show because he is a Latino artist and represents the Latino community.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell defended Bad Bunny by praising him after the Grammys and said that he is, “One of the great artists in the world.”
Overall, amidst all the controversy and ICE presence at the event, Super Bowl 60 is poised to be a special moment for the Latino community when Bad Bunny takes the stage in the halftime show as a representation of solidarity and unity of all people.
