SYNOPSIS: Sonnets for an Old Century is an anthology styled play written by Jose Rivera. This play contains a series of thirty-two different sonnets/monologues in which the characters express what appears to be their last words and thoughts that will go out to the universe.

Sonnets for an Old Century examines what it means to be alive at this particular time and place and what traces each of us will leave behind. SONNETS captures the subtle, often overlooked treasures of everyday life.

The playwright expresses that "The many people who appear in the space are from various parts of the United States. There are Latinos, blacks, Asians, whites. There are gays and straights, children and old people. All strangers to each other."
