Cerritos College Falcons advanced to the 3C2A state tournament final after defeating Cañada College Colts 3-2 at Saddleback College Stadium on Dec. 5.
“It feels amazing, man, one more game just all the bullshit we’ve been through, and then now we’re in the state finals it feels amazing,” Falcons midfielder Gustavo Arias said.
Arias scored two goal in the game along with Falcons forward Julio Portillo in the comeback win.
The Falcons will face the College Panthers in the state finals Dec. 7 at Saddleback College Stadium, after they defeated the Los Angeles City College Cubs 2-0.
The last time the Falcons faced the Panthers was in the Hartnell tournament, where they lost 3-0 on Aug. 30 ,2024.
This is the first time since the Falcons advanced to the state championship game where they defeated the Golden West Rustlers 2-1 in 2018.
“The most best feeling in the world. I can’t describe it into words. The only thing I could say is I’m so proud of these guys and you know I mean just getting here is such an honor and that’s all we ever strive for,” head coach Benny Artiaga said.
Artiaga added “We prepared for December, we didn’t prepare for November so we’re ready.”
