‘Burn After Reading’ is a keeper

Deceit, lies, and murder with bit of dark humor makes “Burn After Reading” a must-see movie for the end of the summer.

The famous hot “Ocean’s” duo stars in this hilarious spy thriller. Harry Pfarrer (George Clooney) is a high noted federal marshall with the high tendency of sleeping with other women, rather than just his wife.

Chad Feldheimer (Brad Pitt) is the low-IQ, iPod-addicted gym trainer with the bad blonde highlights and the bad ’80s dance moves.

Throw in Linda Litzke (Frances McDormand), the desperate middle-aged woman who is practically begging to have her four plastic surgeries, and Osborne Cox (John Malkovich), the old alcoholic CIA analyst that is given the boot at his job and you have yourself a seat clenching film.

The fresh storyline begins when Cox decides to write the memoirs of his life, all with dark, top confidential information. His wife, Katie, who is secretly sleeping with Harry, decides she wants to divorce Cox.

With the evil scheme of sucking him dry of all his finances, she makes a copy of the memoirs and ends up loosing it.

The memoirs then fall into the hands of Linda and Chad, and the blackmailing begins. Chad is too dumb to realize what is happening and just gets up doing the dirty work for Linda.

He gets his nose punched into his face for it too, which by the way is hilarious.

One of the main reasons I love the movie was the way the plot unfolded. The plot does move quite fast, but yet makes perfect sense. Each character leads different lives, but yet they are all connected.

Whether it was through Harry sleeping around, or Linda getting herself into trouble with the memoirs of Cox, Chad was the character that made it happen for me.

This is by far one of my favorite roles that Pitt has played. I always have loved him for his dark, action star roles, but seeing him act like a complete immature moron was quite entertaining.

I didn’t think he had it in him, but once he started dancing in those tight little black shorts I knew the role was made for him.

The unexpected twists and turns the movie unveils had me rattling my brain to seek the right answer, it kept me intrigued and made me keep wanting more.

Put it this way I didn’t get up to use the bathroom when I was literally almost peeing my pants. That’s got to be a good sign.

Actors chosen to play the characters were perfect, couldn’t ask for a better cast, maybe except Katie, who is played by Tilda Swimton (“The Chronicles of Narnia”).

Honestly the English accent wasn’t doing it for me. Tilda was bland and boring.

One main character does get his brains blown out, and believe me that was quite shocking but somehow had the audience laughing, sad but true.

The movie was going in the direction of being funny and it definitely succeeded in that, I would just asked for a better ending.

It ended too abruptly and it left me scratching my head trying to put some unexplained pieces together.

Overall, it made me laugh, ponder, and gasp, so it’s a keeper in my book.
