APIDA Awareness Week - A Mental Health Conversation on Thriving on Happiness
–
April 30, 2024
Open to all. The workshop aims to address mental health, thriving, and happiness within the Asian community while combatting the associated stigma. It will explore culturally sensitive approaches to discussing mental health issues, fostering resilience, and promoting well-being. By destigmatizing mental health conversations and promoting positive attitudes towards seeking help, the workshop seeks to empower individuals to prioritize their mental well-being and thrive in their lives. Presentation and Discussion on Jainism, Solidarity, and Animals
–
April 30, 2024
For over 2500 years practitioners have attempted to coexist within a universe overflowing with sentient life. This talk explores human-animal solidarity from a Jaina perspective. This tradition offers a valuable comparison with contemporary debates on “political solidarity” with more-than-human others, and its radical commitment not to harm other living beings warrants serious consideration within contemporary scholarship on human-animal-ecological solidarity.
