FAFSA made easy thanks to Financial Aid Fair

Jovan Luna , natural sciences major said that throughout his time as a Falcon whenever he would see a Financial Aid Fair, he instantly remembered to file for FAFSA.

Luna said it is not difficult to know when there is a fair because you can see the financial aid banners on the tables.

“This is my last semester and I have always enjoyed seeing this event,” Luna said.

The Cerritos College Financial Aid Fair was held on Thursday, Feb. 11 at Falcon Square.

Jamie Quiroz, assistant director of Financial Aid wants students to ask questions and become informed about financial aid.

He suggested that students remember the following: “Apply early, follow up, and attend workshops to increase your knowledge.”

The assistant director also said students can visit the Financial Aid tab on the Cerritos College website and expect another fair in April.

Amy Ruiz, nursing major, attended the event for the second time .

This time, she decided to volunteer to help others become aware of the financial aid process.

She believes that the financial aid fair is a helpful resource for students.

English major Kenia Feliciario has attended the event several times and wanted to be a volunteer.

Feliciario said “I encourage students to apply for financial aid early because later they would be worried about it later and deal with waiting in long lines later.”

Sociology major Maria Del Razo is on her final semester at Cerritos College and found out about the financial aid fair through flyers and bulletins on campus.

“I go to this event every semester, I like it because its informative and the people are nice,” Razo said.

Student Trustee Victor Villalobos said, “Look, I’m an accounting major so numbers and money are my thing and i’m here to show support this morning.

This fair is critical for college success as i made my way to the fair first thing that draws attention to students is these delicious nachos perfect to satisfy my munchies:”

He said this is his sixth semester and hopes that students will stop procrastinating and start applying for FAFSA on a timely manner.

Jarely Martinez undecided major said, “I think financial aid is a necessity for those who don’t have the income to afford education.”

Martinez said this was her first time attending a financial aid workshop and found it quite helpful for freshman.
