FSZ: How have you coped with death?
We asked students how they have coped with the death of someone who was close to them on a personal level.
1. Evelyn Verdun – Undecided major

“Well it was a death to an old member of my family, so I just got closer to my family. I cried a lot. I didn’t hold back.”
2. Judy Velasquez – Nursing major

“When it comes to death, I kind of shut down. I cry, but at the same time, it’s not always negative. [I] kind of have to think they’re in a better place and they’re are not suffering anymore.”
3. Crystal Grant – Undecided major

“I imagine they’re on a vacation. Eventually, I’ll see them.”
4. Jennette Robles – Dentistry major
“I just need some time alone when you know someone passes away. I need some time for myself and get away from everyone.”
5. Josh Lopez – Engineering major

“Friends and family being together, you know; having each other’s back(s). A lot of family reunions, we actually went to a couple bars, had a couple beers for him [and] pour one out for a fallen friend.”

My name is Armando Jacobo. I’ve been a part of Talon Marks for three straight semesters now and I enjoy every aspect of the hectic lifestyle that entails it. This is my first semester as online editor. I’m also a journalism major but I’m not entirely set what I want to do with it though. Maybe enter the sports realm or music industry…or just nothing.

Then I found Talon Marks and little by little I started to understand what I wanted to do with my life and apparently it's journalism. The idea of gathering information from a variety of sources and re-telling it through visual or written story telling has engaged me in so much more than I ever thought possible. I love to work with Multimedia, but this year I have become Online Editor in hopes of learning a new skill set.
I hope to be a music journalist in the future, but in the mean time I'll be finishing my last semester up at Cerritos College in the spring of 2016.
I also love raccoons; like a lot.
