Just a little more than a month ago, midfielder Corina Villegas was celebrating the state championship MVP award after scoring three goals in the championship game to lead the women’s soccer team to its back-to-back title, but the celebration didn’t end there.

On Dec. 18, Villegas was awarded National Player of the Year and was also named Athlete of the Month for December.

The sophomore Villegas earned first team All American honors

Villegas racked up 21 goals and marked a single season school record of 18 assists.

She also tallied seven goals in the state championship tournament, scoring in all five of the team’s postseason games.
