The National Football League championship games are kicking off on Jan. 25 where they will determine who will book their ticket to San Francisco to play in the 2026 Super Bowl.
The NFC championship game will be a matchup between the Los Angeles Rams and the Seattle Seahawks.
The Seahawks routed the San Francisco 49ers 41-6 in the NFC divisional round and the Rams are coming into this game after a 20-17 overtime win against the Chicago Bears with a game-winning field goal.
In the Seahawks versus 49ers game, Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold threw for 124 passing yards and completed 12 of his 17 passes.
Matthew Stafford lead the Rams win against the Bears with 258 passing yards as he completed 20 of his 42 passes.
The Rams are coming into the game as a wild card team and the fifth seed in the NFC and had previously faced the Seahawks twice in the regular season.
Los Angeles won the first meeting between the two teams on Nov. 16 with a score of 21-19 and lost in the second meeting on Dec. 18 with a score of 38-37 in overtime.
It will be a competitive matchup on Sunday as both NFC West rivals battle it off to determine who will play in the Super Bowl.
The AFC championship game will include the New England Patriots and the Denver Broncos.
For the first time since the 2017 NFL season, this year’s AFC championship game will not feature the Kansas City Chiefs as they played in the last seven conference championship games and missed the playoffs this season.
The Broncos will be shorthanded against the Patriots as their starting quarterback, Bo Nix, fractured his right ankle.
Replacing Nix will be Jarrett Stidham who made his first career start when he was with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2023 against the 49ers.
Stidham has a career record of one win and three losses as a starter, but the Broncos hope that Stidham can lead them against the Patriots and head to the Super Bowl as said on ESPN.
The Broncos are looking to make the Super Bowl for the first time since the 2015 NFL season when Peyton Manning lead them to a victory against the Carolina Panthers at the same site where this year’s Super Bowl is set to be played at.
Based on ESPN’s odds of who will play in the Super Bowl, most likely it would be the Seahawks and Patriots which would be a matchup of the 2015 Super Bowl where the Patriots beat the Seahawks with a score of 28-24.
The Rams against the Patriots in the Super Bowl would be a great matchup as it would be a rematch of the 2019 Super Bowl as it took place on Feb. 3, 2019 where the Patriots defeated the Rams with a score of 13-3.
Overall, with four teams remaining in the playoffs, the biggest question will be answered on Sunday as these teams faceoff to see who will go to the Super Bowl.
