Amy Winehouse’s first posthumous album, Lioness: Hidden Treasures, is nothing less than expected: great.

Winehouse’s third overall album is compiled with songs released on her two prior albums, covers of hits from the 50s and 60s, and new original music.

The first new single off the album was a cover of Jack Hylton’s “Body and Soul,” which featured a duet with Tony Bennett.

People would argue that nothing could beat the original recording of songs, but Winehouse and Bennett did a great job in bringing a song made so long ago, and make it sound good enough to make it sound like a completely new song.

The second single from the “Lioness” album is, “Our Day Will Come”, a cover of a song from Ruby & the Romantics. This was her single with her being the sole performer since her 2007 album.

The upbeat song does Winehouse justice by letting her show off her vocal skills, and is one of the songs on the album you would want to possibly sing along with.

For Hip-Hop fans, the song “Like Smoke” is featuring New York rapper Nas. The song has a “night club” feeling to it, with both Winehouse and Nas putting in their own share of vocals, and lyrics.

For a mostly-Jazz and Blues-influenced album with a mixed with Pop, the producers did a great job in picking songs that listeners would enjoy listening to.

If you are looking for something your loved one’s stockings for the holidays, this would be one to get.
