Last year, Cerritos College Printmaking initiated a summer Artist-in-Residence program overseen by Cerritos College’s printmaking professor, Sergio Teran. For this now annual program, a small group of local artists are invited to create a brand new edition of original prints at Cerritos College’s phenomenal printmaking studio. As part of the process, the professional artists work alongside two of Cerritos College’s advanced printmaking students, who serve as both studio techs for the program, as well as participating artists in their own right. The residency provides each artist, student and professional, with materials and equipment to accomplish various printmaking processes, including silkscreen, intaglio, and relief printing. During the past two summers, the printmaking program has hosted seven professional artists and four student artists.
“Time and Space | 122 Hours of Ink” brings together for the first time the new bodies of work produced by each of the artists that have participated in the previous two summer printmaking residencies.
