Blood drive here once again

The Accounting Club is hosting the American Red Cross blood drive that will be taking place from Monday through Wednesday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. for those interested.

On Monday the blood mobile was stationed outside in front of student activities.

They collected 75 pints of blood for the day, Regional Field Manager for the American Red

Cross Rob Torres, said that the cumulative goal for the three days they are here is to receive 250 pints of blood or more if possible.

He also goes on to mention that the April blood drive is the smallest blood drive of the school year, so much help is need to reach their goal.

The need for blood is 2,000 pints between Los Angeles and Orange County.

There are 200 hospitals between each county collecting blood, and during the low “season”, which are the holidays and summer, they have to sometimes import blood from out of state.

George Martinez, charge nurse, said that for the students who are interested in donating blood each student must be healthy and weigh at least 110 pounds.

He also stresses the importance of donating blood, “Every blood type and everybody is needed.”
