ASCC President Paulo Amaral expressed his appreciation to members of the Cabinet during its last meeting of the 2005-06 school year on Monday.
Holly Bogdanovich also expressed her gratitude toward the Cabinet for what she called, “an outstanding and great year.”
In addition, Senior Preview Day held on April 28 was also discussed.
Amaral addressed each of the eight members of the Cabinet and said that it has been an “unbelievable” year because of all the hard work that each member had done throughout his term as president.
However, Amaral also acknowledged his running mate and outgoing ASCC Vice President Charlene Angsuco and said, “It was just over a year ago when I approached you and your first reaction when I asked you (to be my running mate) was, ‘What? Who are you?'”
“I remember that during the campaign you and I were able to get 1,100 signatures,” Amaral continued, “and when the results came back you and I had received 60 percent of the votes.”
Amaral said that he believed both he and Angsuco should have been ASCC president because of both of their commitments to Cerritos College and its students.
Angsuco said that she too has learned a lot during her tenure as ASCC vice president, “because I have learned something from each and everyone of you.”
As for Amaral, Angsuco said, “You have dragged me to some weird events, but in all honesty you taught me to take risks and to never be afraid.”
Being involved in student government at Cerritos College was a great learning experience Angsuco concluded.
Then, Christopher Olivares, commissioner of convocations and fine arts, said that Senior Preview Day was deemed a “success” because the high school students who were visiting Cerritos College received helpful information about what the college has to offer.
