The Student Activities Center will wrap up the non-perishable food drive on Monday Dec. 8.

The food drive, coordinated by the Norwalk City Council, was established to help local families in need during the holiday season.

The Associated Students of Cerritos College launched the food drive on Oct. 27, and also incorporated a contest for the clubs on campus to encourage food donation.

Donations are also being accepted from the general public.

“For the first time, I actually had a local resident call in and ask how they could be apart of the food drive,” said Trudy Foster, secretary of student activities. “He seen the announcement on the marquee by the football stadium.”

Foster said that the activities center doesn’t keep track of the food collected, but so far, they have received a very good amount.

Food donations include vienna sausages, cookies, canned tuna, canned beans, and pasta.

The winner from the club competition will be announced at the Fall Banquet on Dec. 12 in the Student Center.
