The Cerritos College Art Gallery will have the work of photographer Gene Kirkland as well as students and faculty of Cerritos College.

Kirkland is a nationally known photographer and was once the apprentice of Photography Department Chairman Mike Coppenger here at Cerritos College.

The Art Gallery will have a special reception this Wednesday in order to celebrate the opening of this new exhibit. The reception will begin at 6 p.m. and end at 8 p.m.

As for the special reception, refreshments will be served and promptness is encouraged. The Art Gallery will be showcasing his artwork as well as Cerritos College students on Wednesday until April. 5.

Rock n’ roll photography has been the key to Kirkland’s success. With muses like Black Sabbath founder Ozzy Ozbourne and the rock band Aerosmith, it is no wonder why Kirkland has achieved notoriety in his field.

The exhibit was once again put together by Geoffrey Allen. Allen who has put together in the last few months certain art exhibits like “Skin Deep” and “Meet You at Colinga,” he is also the Art Gallery director here at Cerritos College.

Allen had this to say, “The Art Gallery is fortunate to feature an artist who is popular among celebrities, plus it’s also a good way to showcase his talent as a photographer.”

Photography has many forms of expression. Not to mention, many aspects of life, such as natural settings, celebrity portrait and sport actions, the mentioned expressions will certainly be shown in the artwork of the faculty and students of Cerritos College.
