“What is the new Writing Resource Center that everyone is talking about in the Liberal Arts building?” asked Veronica Valles, Cerritos college student.

It is an English department program that would provide writing assistance to Cerritos students.

The new Writing Resource Center is a project developed by the English Department and spearheaded by Professor Suzanne Ashe.

This new resource center is to serve the college community in variety of ways, such as providing students in all courses across campus with a Writing Resource Center where they can get help with any type of writing task and to help students become more comfortable, and adapt using educational technology for writing and communicating with others. “Students who use the center services constantly learn to write more powerful and effectively in the classes they take,” said the advisor.

Led by Ashe, these workshops provide an introduction to essential writing skills.

These workshops will include sliding into writing: tips for breaking the ice that is designed to help you feel more comfortable with writing and to show you some simple techniques. Another workshop would be writing papers the easy way. They would talk about a secret that all good writers already know. There are going to be four more work shops.

“I think these workshops would help me and many students to be successful in our classes,” said Cerritos student Carlos Ochoa . “Professor Suzanne Ashe would do great job having this new resource center.
