The fetus: An individual entity

I believe that a woman has the right to do as she pleases with her own body, however, I do not believe that a fetus is merely an appendage to another’s body.

I believe the fetus is an individual entity. It is a person from the moment of conception.

Psalm 139:16 says, “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Each day was recorded in your book!”

Even if a baby is not planned for, that person still has the right to live and a purpose on this earth. That person is God’s creation and God does not create anything accidentally.

Albert Einstein once said, “God doesn’t play dice.”

If every human being is looked at in this light, I believe there is no room for the assumption that it is acceptable to terminate pregnancies as we see fit.

I am aware that many people will read this and say that it is fine for me to believe these things, but my beliefs should not be allowed to dictate other people’s choices.

This is true. My opinions should not be allowed to dictate another’s actions, except for one exception: when those actions harm another. If the issue here was that one person was harming themself, I would care, but many would agree, it is not my place to stop it.

However, when innocent people, who have no say in the situation, are being harmed, it is my responsibility to step in.

Unborn babies cannot speak for themselves. Someone must speak for them.

I liken this to our laws on murder. A person is free to act as he wishes, but he is not free to harm others or take their lives in the process.

Our freedoms only extend as far as another person’s begin. The moment another human being’s rights (in this case the right to life) are impeded, the first person’s rights are forfeited.

Our liberty does not guarantee the harm of others in the name of choice.Clearly the issue here is not whether or not murder is ethical, it is whether or not abortion is murder.

For debate theorists, this would be a question of the minor premise, or the warrant, of the argument.

The question here is whether or not an unborn life is a life at all.I believe that it is. Pastor Rick Warren has said, “Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God.”

The fact of the matter is every one of us is here because someone chose to keep us. Someone choose to bring us into this world rather than never allowing us that chance.

No matter what a child may be up against in life, allowing her the chance to life is a far better choice than choosing to terminate that life before her first breath.

In Isaiah 44:2, God says, “I am your creator. You were in my car even before you were born.”

If he has found someone important enough to create, we, as part of his creation, have no right to stop that.

Unplanned pregnancies are painful for everyone involved, but abortion is not the solution.
