Brenda Villa was approved as this year’s commencement speaker at March 18’s Board of Trustees meeting.
The Olympian has received two medals, bronze and silver, as a member of the USA women’s water polo team.
Villa participated in the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the 2004 Olympics in Athens as well as 2000 Sydney Games.
She has served as the assistant women’s water polo coach here at Cerritos College along with head coach Sergio Macias.
Villa’s many accomplishments more than qualify her to be the one to encourage Cerritos College graduates.
Cerritos College is glad to have her speak to their students, Andrea Jones, the secretary in the president’s office confirms that Villa “has been approved.”
Jones also informs us that the suggestion for Villa to speak was made by Holly Bogdonavich and the Student Activities Office.
