Construction of the new Physical Science and Technology building wrapped up earlier this year, giving summer students, and now fall students, a chance to experience a new, modern classroom setting in math and science.

The building is part of the Science, Engineering, and Math Division focused on math and science courses.

The new building began its construction in 2009, and had its grand opening this year just in time for the summer session at Cerritos.

All did not go smoothly, however, as the construction site forced many students to find new routes to go to their classes. It made some students, even teachers, late to class.

The building is located behind the old Physical Science building and has two floors, with five classrooms and seven labs.

It’s made complete with brand new technology focused on enhancing the learning experience here at Cerritos.

New computers and labs for Physics, Astronomy, and other sciences help students understand the subject at hand. This allows for an easier transition of study to practice that can give students an edge in the work field.

According to Carolyn Chambers, the instructional dean of the Science, Engineering, and Math Division, many of the professors teaching in the new building have given a lot positive reviews, showing enthusiasm for the chance to work with the new classrooms and labs.

Criminal Justice major Danny Castillo said, “The new classrooms feel very up to date and new.”
