Jersey Ave., an Indianapolis R&B group, is about to claim a spot atop the list of great groups in the R&B genre. The self-titled album has a mix of “slow jams,” ballads and the ever-popular singing to a hip-hop beat.

Unlike most in the R&B genre, (Jersey Ave. are all brothers) the members write some of their own songs. Most noticeable is “Let’s Make Love,” a testament to waiting for love when you make love, and “Maybe,” a beautiful ballad about what makes a man fall for a woman. Not to mention, the way a woman makes you feel.

The song “Maybe,” with its sexually charged and harmonized lyrics, sounds like a collaboration between Boyz II Men and R. Kelly. Jersey Ave. is a nine out of 10 album. Ironically, it has only 10 tracks. The beautiful ballads are above anything in R&B today. The CD itself is a great little item. It is an enhanced CD that allows you to view the video for the song “I Wonder Why” on it as well as having links to two important Jersey Ave. web sites. This CD is a must have for the romantic inside all of us. It is also good to hear a CD without any profanity, which is lost in a lot of today’s music industry.
