Enjoy the fine weather and fine music a the same time July 12 at Cerritos College’s “Concert on the Grass” at Cerritos College.

Presented by the Music Department, Associated Students of Cerritos College and the Cerritos College Foundation, the concert will feature the Cerritos College Community Band directed by David Betancourt.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. in the outdoor Amphitheater located in Falcon Square. Admission is free.

“This is the first time this has ever been done at Cerritos College,” commented Dean of Fine Arts/Communication Barry Russell.

Many members of the band are from the local community and really had no place to perform. Responding to a need, Cerritos College decided to provide a place for the band to play, as well as a place for the College and community to come together for a fun concert.

The Community Band is being offered as a class for the summer session. The students/band members represent a range of areas — high schools, college bands, community band enthusiasts and even band directors from surrounding performing groups.

A second “Concert on the Grass” will be held on August 9 at 7 p.m.
