Corky Romano unnatural

Whenever I see Chris Kattan on his regular Saturday Night Live gig, I think he is hilarious because the roles he plays just seem so natural for him.

However, Kattan’s role in his latest film, Corky Romano, seems just the opposite, unnatural.

One, maybe two scenes naturally made me laugh, but there were too many where I had to make myself laugh, unnaturally.

The Corky Romano plot was perfect for your average stupid comedy.

The dorky, outcast son of a Mafia family is living his life as a veterinarian assistant completely happy with his life.

But when the FBI manages to gather incriminating evidence against his father, the crime boss, the family decides it has to send someone to infiltrate the FBI and steal the evidence.

Of course the FBI has seen everybody the family associates with, so the only one it can turn to is the son they long ago banished, Romano.

In theory, the escapades that take place over the course of the film should be funny, and some of them are, however, overall this film tries too hard to make the viewer laugh.

Comedy shouldn’t be that difficult; it should just flow naturally.
