The fourth annual Turkey Trot, a charity event to raise canned goods for local needy families, will take place at Cerritos College on Nov. 13 at 11 a.m. beginning in Falcon Square.

Sponsored by the physical education department, the Turkey Trot is a 2-mile walk/run around the Cerritos College campus which requires participants to donate at least one canned food item.

In addition to being a charity event, the Turkey Trot is also an event that unifies the campus.

Last year over 250 students, staff, and faculty members came together and collected over 1,000 canned goods, which were donated to the Norwalk Community Coordination Council Holiday Food Basket Program.

1) Turkeys will be the prizes to the participants who finish the Turkey Trot closest to their estimated times (no watches will be permitted).

Prizes include

o Turkey for closest guess estimated time

o Female faculty/staff

o Male faculty /staff

o Female student

o Male student

2) Spirit Award-for the division/group with the most participants (student and faculty)

3) First place trophy (male and female)

Participants may also receive free t-shirts and can participate in a raffle.

Registration will be offered the day of the race beginning at 9 a.m. as well as in advance by completing a registration form and bringing it and a canned food item to the Athletics Office.
