The Cerritos College Women’s Basketball team is in full bloom.

The Falcons have only one returning player from last year and three transfers.

Last year the team won 29 games and lost six, placed second in the South Coast Conference and made it to the State final four for the third time.

According to head Coach Karen Welliver, this year’s team is very good and balanced.

“We have very skilled and athletic players.”

The key players to look out for this year include the team’s only returning player, Eterei Wong, who Welliver said should be able to do good things for the team.

The transfer players are sophomores Chrystal Johnson, from Dixie College in Utah, Antares Vice, from Cypress College, and Jennifer Decuir from Humboldt State.

The freshmen to watch include guards Marci Wong and Lauren Decoud.

“We’re going to get two players from Volleyball, Tiffany Amete and Vanessa Cid, both freshmen,” Welliver said.

“It’s going to be very exciting to watch such a handful of skilled players.”

The Falcons will visit Moorpark Thursday at 6 p.m.
