Get a haircut or a manicure for only $5! More importantly come and donate for a great cause.

It’s round two for Cerritos College cosmetology students as they prepared for their annual breast cancer fundraising cut-a-thon.

The event was held Tuesday the 23rd and will continue on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Falcon Square.

Junior and senior cosmetology students will be cutting hair and giving manicures for only $5, but any extra donations will be accepted. The money raised goes to the City of Hope Foundation.

This is the second year the fundraiser has taken place and last year the cosmetology students managed to raise $900, according to Dean of Cosmetology, Nina Motruk, who is in charge of the organization of the event.

This year however, they are hoping to raise close to $1200. Whether or not students want either a haircut or manicure, donations are accepted from anybody. Some cosmetology students will be making personal donations as well.

President of the cosmetology club, Angelo Rottino, explains that it is a very good cause because “It deals with an issue that initially affects everybody. I think it’s amazing that a group of people can come together and accomplish a good deed.”
