Fellow Falcons, be advised that the Los Angeles Junior Chamber of Commerce (LAJCC) wants to give you $2, 000 to go to school. But you have to hurry, because applications must be postmarked by Feb. 13.

The LAJCC, in conjunction with the L.A. Watts Summer Games is awarding four scholarships to active community college students attending school in the Los Angeles County.

Students who reside in L.A. County, but commute to school in nearby Kern, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, or Ventura Counties are also eligible.

Four recipients have the opportunity to apply for an additional $6,000 scholarship in 2004. This money will be awarded to those who are enrolled in college or graduate school who maintain a good academic standing, and complete service to the LAJCC or other approved organizations.

The money will be awarded over three years, beginning in 2004 in $2,000 increments.

The LAJCC has been awarding scholarship money to graduating high school seniors for the past decade. In 2001, the organization extended a separate scholarship to students attending two-year schools.
