The Los Angeles Mycological Society will be staging the Wild Mushroom Fair Feb. 16 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Arboretum of Los Angeles County.
The fair is free with paid admission to the Arboretum. Adults are $5.00, seniors admission is $3.00, children ages five to 12 admission is $1.00 and children under five are free.
The L.A. Arboretum is located at 301 N. Baldwin Ave in Arcadia, one-quarter mile south of the 210 freeway.
The wild Mushroom Fair is a unique educational event for anyone wishing to learn more about the exciting world of mushrooms and fungi.
The fair will feature an extensive display of wild-foraged mushrooms in natural settings, lectures by mushroom experts, and cooking demonstrations by local chefs.
Attendees are encouraged to bring in their own mushrooms for on-the-spot identification. There will also be mushroom related merchandise and books for sale, grow-your-own kits and a children’s corner featuring fungi fun for youngsters.
The Los Angeles Mycological Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to the study and enjoyment of wild and cultivated mushrooms.
They are a diverse group (mycologists, culinary professionals, avid aficionados and novice fungophiles) interested in hunting, identifying, and cooking mushrooms.
