Lockheed Martin Partnership

For students interested in a quick job turnaround in the aeronautics field, Cerritos College, in cooperation with Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., has just implimented a training program for you.

Accelearted training programs are currently in the works for the Cerritos College Center for Applied Technologies (CACT) and the Composites Training Center (CTC).

The courses available on the Cerritos Campus span 60-hours over a 10 day period. The training is based on Lockheed’s Palmdale plant where a 60-hour course runs a length of 10 weeks.

As a leading manufacturer of military airplanes such as the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter and the F-22 air force figher jet, Lockheed found Cerritos to be a valuable asset. “Our partnership with Cerritos College started with the need to retrain and qualify new and exisiting Lockheed workers,” Steve Haydu, manager of Labor Relations at Lockheed Martin said in a press release.

The choice for Cerritos came because composites are already taught at CTC.

The program will help exisiting workers keep up to speed with new advances in the technology, while at the same time providing the latest training to future employees.

According to Terry Price, the program chair of the CTC at Cerritos, to date, everyone who has completed the composites training at Cerritos has been placed in a job by Lockheed Martin.
