Going down to the last match the Cerritos College men’s tennis team defeated Los Angeles City College 5-4 on Wednesday.

The Falcons’ next match will be against Mt San Antonio College on March 11 at 2 p.m. at Cerritos on the tennis courts.

They started off the match with the doubles winning one out of the three of the matches.

Daniel Aguilar and Ki Kim teamed up for the first double match.

Aguilar and Kim loss the first match 4-6.

Charlie Robles and Sergio Huerta won the only match out of the three double matches.

Robles and Huerta teamed up to score a 9-7 lead over LACC.

In the final double match Japeth Tababan and Antwan Smith loss in their match 6-8.

Starting off with the single matches Falcon Ramzy Abourialy went up against Sky Laws.

Laws who attends LACC is a D-1 player who is currently being recruited by different colleges for scholarships.

Abourialy loss to Laws in the first match 0-6, 6-4, and 2-6.

Kim once again competed but this time he showed his skills and won in the singles match with a 6-4, 6-1 win over Nick Noa.

This was the first win in the singles match for the Falcons.

The Falcons were now down by one. Robles stepped up and tied up the match with a three-three tie.

Robles won his match against Andre Jackson with a 2-6, 6-2 and 6-2 win.

Breaking the tie was Huerta who went up against LACC’s William Fisher.

Huerta broke the tie with a 7-5, and 6-1 win over Fisher.

Aguilar was the next Falcon to step up against Robert Perez. Aguilar loss the match 3-6, and 4-6.

Cerritos and LA City were now tied four to four with only one match left. This match would determine who would win the match.

Falcon Antwan Smith went up against Julio Perez. Smith put Perez away with a 7-5, and 7-6 win.

“I just played my best and we won. I was the last chance,” Smith said.

The Falcons finished the match with a 5-4 win over LA City.

“I was very proud of them, they came form a deficit. It was a tight match and Smith was the key for our victory,” Coach Gerry Ellis said.
