A true inspiration for young aspiring nurses, Mona Clayton talks about her journey in becoming a nurse in her new book, “From Student to Nurse-Surviving the Journey as Painlessly as Possible.”

Clayton explains how she would like to raise awareness about this profession she is so passionate about. This book is a motivational instrument for young students trying to pursue the well sought after profession of nursing.

Her story is one of great effort in overcoming difficulties while trying to complete her vision of one day becoming a registered nurse(RN).

Driven by the words of Martin Luther King Jr., “Take the first step in faith you don’t have to see the whole staircase just take the first step”, Clayton talks about how perseverance is the key to success.

Starting off as a receptionist with an Associates Degree in computer science, Mona decided she needed to strive for something bigger and found a new appreciation for the nurses around her. Then and there, she began her studies in nursing which took two years to complete.

A University of Phoenix graduate, Clayton finally completed her dream of becoming an RN.

Along with her new book and life experience Clayton hopes to encourage nursing students to fulfill the nursing program in hopes to decrease the current nursing shortage.

“Believe you can do it. There are no obstacles towards your vision and always stay focused,” is the advice this inspirational woman has towards young scholars.
