The Faculty Senate discussed the ARCC report and Habits of Mind campaign at its meeting held on Tuesday.
Acting President Bill Farmer presented an Accountablility Reporting Community College report for the year of 2008.
ARCC is a report that uses data submitted annually on a performance data.
The performance of the college is measured by the students’ progress and academic achievement.
For the past six years, the rate of achievement of Cerritos College was 42.2 percent.
Compared to other community colleges, Cerritos is significantly lower on all performance indicators.
The Faculty Senate is searching for a solution to solve the low achievement rate.
Faculty Senate President Bryan Reece suggested senate members speak to students about the Habits of Mind campaign during their classes for about 10 to 15 minutes every other week.
The campaign may improve the school’s statistics if it is successful.
It was also suggested that the statistics may also improve if students have better classroom technology and a suitable campus.
