A 4.4 magnitude earthquake struck out of the Pico Rivera area at approximately 4:04 a.m.
The depth of the earthquake was 18 kilometers and was 10 miles ESE of Los Angeles on the Whittier fault line.
No injuries have been reported so far but the Santa Ana freeway near Lakewood Boulevard appears to be damaged by the quake.
