The choosing a major workshop drew in a total of 16 students, which is down in comparison to last semester’s workshop, which drew in 30 students.
The reason behind the low attendance, according to Traci Ukita, career service counselor, was due to the time the workshop was scheduled.
The workshop was held on Feb. 24 from 2 to 3 pm in the Social Science building 139.
“Compared to previous workshops the student were more enthusiastic and more energetic. I heard more response from students, but couldn’t get feedback of the workshop due to lack of direct interaction,” Ukita said.
Shannon Estrada, Re-entry Resources Program specialist, said, “This time we didn’t have much advertisement compared to the previous workshop. We expected less students in the workshop but were amazed to see 16 students attending.”
Jacqueline Ortiz, undeclared major, said, “The workshop was very informative to me, I didn’t have any idea about Eureka before, but I am very clear about it.”
There are two other workshops that are being held this month, the True Colors workshop and Career Resources workshop, which are aimed to help students choose a career.
“I was trying to change my major, the workshop provided lots of information that helped me analyze every field of study,” computer science major Claudia Centeno said.
Ukita said that in preparation for her presentation, it takes her several days to gather the information that will aid students.
