The event sponsored by Philosophy club ” Scared and the Profane” on 29 March was demonstrated by Dr Casas in Social Science building 137.
Since Jan. 18 2011 till May 10 Philosophy club sponsored event every Tuesday starting from 11 am. This time it had ” The Scared and the Profane” demonstrated by Dr.Ralph Casas, Department of Pharmacy Technology.
About 50 student were present in the event. “There is only handful student show up in the event, it depend greatly on what the subject matter is about.
The idea of the event is really a good idea, as it make people to think about various subject matters to,” said Philosophy club president Thomas Aguirre
“its good to know about scared and profane things, I was able to know about this event through the class of Dr. Casas ,”said shahina Alam Pharmacy technician.
This semester the advertisement done about the event was same as the previous one, just we posted more fliers this time. Ana Torres Bower the professor behind the club, club vice president and the club president are trying to figure about different ways to in get outside in the school environment, an try to find out the way of interacting with student and get more involved with student. Robert Sliff the club advisor who help conduct the lecture n the event if sometimes the particular professor cannot make it out.
“I think hearing lecture with qualified instructor will be more effective to some students, but for average students, it’s more effective to discuss with peers where they can share ideas, “said Scientific Philosophy club secretary Chris (..)
“it was influential, love the lecture, it is so much related to my life, because its lots of things my family has brought from culture and it reinforces that, the teacher told me,” said Jaene Gazmen theater arts and Pharmacy major.
Dr. Casas is being teaching since 1995. He is been doing several event in the philosophy club, including Native Amercing religious and healing traditions philosophy of the Nahua Mesoamerica .“I’ve also spoken to various Health Occupations and Cultural Studies classes on the topic ofHerbal Medicine,” said Dr. Casas
When talking about the scared and the profane Dr.Casas explains that it has place in life in acdemy of every students and this is the second time the school was doing such event,” said Dr. Casas.
