Cerritos College Bookstore risks failing due to inflation

The college should lower prices if they want to keep customers and business.

Everyone always wonders why Cerritos College textbooks cost so much and why they can’t make it more affordable.

Because Cerritos College book prices are increasing, students are now trying to go somewhere else to get the literature needed to pass classes — such as various websites and independent textbook stores to get a better deal.

We should taken into consideration that some people cannot afford books due to low income, not receiving any type of grant and financial responsibilities besides school and other factors.

It is not like students are going to keep these textbooks forever- they will only use the textbooks for one semester and never see the book again.

People should be able to get a refund for renting textbooks because it is not fair that they have to pay full price for renting when they will not even use the book for a whole year.

Amazon charges $15 to rent an English book that is due in four to five months — whereas the bookstore on campus charges $36 to $40 to rent the same book, which is absurd.

Many people prefer Amazon, which offers a better deal — saving a lot of money on discounted pricing.

The bookstore should take note from companies such as Amazon and see what it can do to sell books at a decent price.

Many students feel that they are being cheated out of their money and they start going to other places to pay for books that they can afford.

Students should not have to deal with the stress of buying textbooks costing too much.

The bookstore should rent the books at a reasonable price and realize that students have other things to pay for including classes, parking permits and school supplies.

The bookstore should lower prices, return student’s money when they are done renting the book if they turn it in on time and have sales if they want to still be open for business.
