The Cerritos College men’s basketball team’s season ended the same way its game against El Camino College on Friday did: a miss.
After posting a 9-18, 3-10 record this season, the Falcons will miss the playoffs for the first time since the 2007-08 season.
Even at the beginning of the season, the team knew obtaining success would be an uphill battle, as 13 of the 17 players on the roster are freshman.
The last time the team had a winning record was on Dec. 19 after defeating Compton College.
Despite not having much success this season, Cerritos did have some memorable highlights.
Sophomore guard Nick Sanchez completed a four-point play at the buzzer to defeat Los Angeles Southwest College on Jan. 14.
He also erupted for a season high 30 points on Dec. 3 against Grossmont College, the highest total for anyone on the team.
