The falcons hosting the South Coast Conference Pentathlon on Friday by the Cerritos College men’s swimming team. Winning in two of the relays and a third place, as for PJ Gabayeron making a statement like he wanted as sophomore on the team.

 “This season I’m more worried about the end not the beginning. I really don’t care what happens right now or where I get placed at,”Gabayeron said.

Gabayeron still being defeated by Pasadena City College swimmer but pulling through to win two events, winning over both Lancer swimmers. Gabayeron, posting a time of 1:58.40 in his home pool, making a pull through. Cario Liu swimmer of PCC won over Gabayeron with a time of 1:58.35, winning Gabayeron by a couple of seconds.

“There is always room for improvement and just practicing more individually helps us improve,”Gabayeron said.

Cerritos freshman swimmer Isaac Ogloblin finishing 11 th in the race in a time of 2:12.79.

“With this being my first swimming meat I’m proud in how I did in the meet but I still need practice in my technique and butterfly stroke,” Oglobin stated.

In the tail of a win for the 100-yard butterfly relay, between Sharif Alaoui from Pasadena City almost winning over Gabayeron the time of 54.30, Gabayeron with 54.36. Sophomore Isaiah Irvine placed 12th in the race in 59.20, while Ogloblin was right behind in 13th place in 59.23.

“I did badly at my first event I ate to early and it wasn’t good for me in the rest of meet,” Irvine said.

 Falcons’ men’s swimming head coach Joe Abing was surprised by the dropping in times and the improvements that were made in the first meet to the SCC.

“We are on a pace, a little bit ahead than we were last year this times we are faster and improving in the areas we see that we need more work in,” Abing said.

Gabayeron defeating all swimmers in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 56.84, while freshman Enrico Hidalgo placing seventh in the race with 1:01.02 on the clock.

 “The improvement in time in each relay is what I am working toward, I’m still five seconds away but I’m ready for my next meet against Golden West,”Gabayeron stated.

Their next up meet will be against Golden West Invitational on Friday.
