Sophomore wide receiver Lindsey Anderson quietly had one of the best freshman seasons last year. The six-foot-two wide out from Serra High School led all freshman in receptions (20), receiving yards (303) and touchdowns (five). Anderson’s strong hands allow him to go up and snatch passes out of the air. He resembles Indianapolis Colts’ wide receiver Reggie Wayne in that they are both two dynamics pass catchers but aren’t flashy.

Speedster Dwan Gill out of Carson High School may have had the biggest impact as a Falcon last season. He quickly rose up the depth chart to become the defense’s No. 3 cornerback and also saw significant playing time in the 3-3-5 stack formation. A foot injury held him out of the El Camino College game yet he still led freshman in games played (12). His agility helps him close in on receivers coming across the middle and make the play.

Offensive guard Semisi Tupou played a huge role in the team’s ability to rush for more than 2200 yard last season and not just because he stands at six-foot-five 400 lbs. His brute strength enables him to manhandle defensive lineman much smaller than him. Tupou, who has signed with the University of Utah for the 2012 season, will be one of the leaders of the offensive line after it lost starters Fou Fonoti (Michigan State University), Jeff Houser (Benedictine College, KS), and Marcus Falanai (University of New Mexico).

Safety Chris Metcalf looks to fill big shoes this season as the team loses eight defensive starters including All-American linebacker David Lopez (Portland State University) and safety Keith McGill (University of Utah). Metcalf earned a significant amount of experience and playing time last season, ranking third on the team in total tackles (59). Prior to Cerritos, he was a stand out player at Compton High School and was invited to play on the U.S. Army All-American team. He later accepted a scholarship a scholarship to the University of Nevada.
