The Falcons went into Tuesday’s match up against rival Mount San Antonio College looking to grab their fourth consecutive South Coast Conference championship.
The Mounties 36-4 (20-1) had a different plan in mind.
Sophomore pitcher Alexa Limon threw six shutout innings, leading the Mounties to the 9-0 victory after a mercy rule was called in the bottom of the sixth inning.
This is the first time Mt. SAC has won the SCC championship since 2008.
The Falcons finish their regular season with a 30-9 (19-2) record and will now look forward to the Southern California Regional playoffs on May 7-8.
Last season, Cerritos lost to Mt. SAC in the semi-final round.
