A male suspect peered over an occupied women’s bathroom stall located in the first floor of the science building on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at approximately 8:45 a.m. according to a safety alert released by the Cerritos College Police Department.

According to Police Chief Tom Gallivan, a student reported the June 24 incident at approximately 2:00- 3:30 p.m. of Monday, June 29, 2015.

Gallivan said,“[…] She saw what looked like suspected men’s shoes. She looked up and saw a male.”

The suspect fled the scene as soon as he noticed the victim looking back at him.

The police chief stated that the female student was only able to see the top part of his face.

“Unfortunately, she only saw the back of him and the peering,” he added.

Members of the Cerritos College Community are urged to contact Campus Police by dialing 911 from any campus phone, or by calling (562) 402-3674 from a cell phone if the suspect described is seen.

Gallivan said, “We put out an alert because we wanted to make sure the campus community is aware. We included safety precautions.”

The safety precautions include:

· Removing headphones to be aware of your surroundings,

· Being aware of parking lots, walkways, and restrooms

· Keeping keys in hand when moving to a vehicle

· Checking the interior of a vehicle before getting in

· Not confronting a fleeing suspect, instead gather a good description and direction of travel for the police

The police chief recommended that students have someone accompany them to the restroom and assured that the cadets will continue to do their job.
