Women’s Water Polo

Jessica Meili scored three goals and Jill Strickland added two for Cerritos Wednesday against visiting Pasadena, but the Lancers broke the game open with five goals in the third quarter to beat the Falcons, 16-6.

Liz Garibay scored the remaining goal for Cerritos (1-18).

Goalkeeper Yazmin Sanchez recorded twelve saves for the Falcons.

Cerritos trailed 3-1 after one quarter and 6-3 at the half.

Strickland leads the Falcons with 29 goals this season.

The Falcons will visit Rio Hondo Wednesday at 4 p.m.

Men’s Water Polo

The Falcons dropped three of four matches in the Cypress Tournament Friday and Saturday.

Cerritos (12-10) lost to Cuesta, 14-5, Orange Coast, 14-7, and Palomar, 13-11, but came back in its final game to beat Santa Monica, 17-10.

Wednesday’s game against Pasadena was cancelled because the Lancers did not field a team.

The previous weekend, the team split its four matches at the Cuesta Tournament in San Luis Obispo.

The wins were over Cabrillo, 9-8, and Rio Hondo, 13-10, and the losses were to Citrus, 17-4, and Solano, 12-8.

Wednesday the Falcons will play at Rio Hondo at 3 p.m., and compete in the Saddleback Tournament Friday and Saturday in Mission Viejo.
