LOOKING SHARP – Cerritos students (l.-r.) Adam Rodriguez, Oscar Perez, Katrin Dayeh, Betty Utomo and Eileen Arencibia show their style.

Five Cerritos College students answered the challenge to dress and act in a way different from the way they normally do.

And those students presented their different personas on stage in the Student Center on campus in front of a small Friday afternoon audience.

The event, presented by the Cultural Affairs Council, was meant to highlight the diversity present on the Cerritos College campus.

The students, walked out on stage and down the runway, and explained how their appearances were different from the norm.

Adam Rodriguez, representing radio station WPMD, wore a leather blazer and plaid slacks.

He said, “If you notice me, it’s tennis shoes, jeans and a T-shirt.

“This is the pimp look.”

Oscar Perez, also from radio station WPMD, wore a black dress shirt and gray slacks, as well as a red tie.

He said, “I don’t look homeless. I actually wore a tie.”

Katrin Dayeh, from the Cultural Affairs Council and WPMD, said “I’m wearing a skirt.”

Eileen Arencibia, who also is with Cultural Affairs Council and WPMD, said, “I am actually wearing a button-down shirt, and a short skirt.

“And heels, which I usually do not wear.”

BettyUtomo, representing the International Students Association, wore a light brown and white pattern dress.

After the event, she said “Actually, I don’t like to dress up, but for some special occasion like this, I have to wear (something) different.”

“I’m nervous. But I’ve tried. This is my chance.”
